Abstract:

This dataset portrays parcels of land ownership within the proclamation boundary of the Allegheny National Forest (ANF).

Purpose:

The purpose of this data is to support project-level planning, decision making, implementation and monitoring for Forest Service managers, GIS Specialists and others.

Use_Constraints:

The Forest Service uses the most current and complete data available. GIS data and product accuracy may vary. They may be developed from sources of differing accuracy; accurate only at certain scales; based on modeling or interpretation; incomplete while being created or revised; etc. Using GIS products for purposes other than those for which they were created, may yield inaccurate or misleading results. The Forest Service reserves the right to correct, update, modify, or replace this geospatial information without notification. Attribute_Accuracy_Report:

Boundary lines were derived using the Geographic Measurement Management (GMM) software. This program uses record survey data controlled by accurately located geographic positions to compute cadastrally correct geographic coordinates for identified corners. These coordinates are referred to as the GCDB (Geographic Coordinate Data Base). The control points for the software were either scaled from USGS quad maps, or GPS derived and located. The software will treat control points as fixed locations and their coordinates will not be adjusted. The geographic positions of all other corner locations will be computed based on these fixed control points. Coordinate values will be computed from the record survey bearings and distances entered into the raw data file. After doing a raw data check and verification, and generating unadjusted coordinates and error analysis is performed. Before running a final Least Squares Network Adjustment, a minimally constrained adjustment is made and an error analysis is made of the data input and weighting. A Least Squares Network Adjustment is then run which will generate GCBD coordinates for all the angle points in the raw data file. Some lines were digitized from the Land Status Atlas. Boundaries along the reservoir and rivers were extracted from CFF data.
