Abstract:

This service displays the latest Infrared Satellite images produced by the National Weather Service. The satellite images are downloaded from the National Weather Service site: ftp://gp16.ssd.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/GIS/GOESeast (and GOESwest). The service is updated with new images every 15 minutes. The image is a mosaic of two images, one from the GOES East satellite and one from the GOES West satellite. The imager used to capture these images senses energy in the infrared band of the electromagnetic spectrum.
