Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access

Abstract:

SchoolFacil_points consists of points features representing a school building or a closesly related facility, such as a swimming pool or an athletic field.  All SchoolFacil_points are located within a polygon belonging to the SchoolFacil_pars feature class.

Purpose:

The feature class has been much revised at this time in order to assist the Streets Department with its efforts at extending its program of signage and crosswalks at school perimeters. Accordingly, many new points have been added: charter schools, many private schools, public school annexes and fields/athetic facilities that are on a different parcel that the school itself. The location of the point within the parcel is based on the Water Departments Building_footprints. If there are two schools within the parcel, the Sanborn atlases were used to determine which point to locate on which building-footprint
