Abstract:

This layer contains the locations of fishing and boating access areas that have been veirified by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and are public or semi-public areas.  In addition, accesses identified by water trail partners on water trail guides have been added to the layer.

Purpose:

Mapping of the location of access areas throughout Pennsylvania, promotion of fishing and boating opportunities in Pennsylvania, key data layer in numerous maps, guides and brochures produced by the PFBC.

Supplemental_Information:

This layer was originally compiled by multiple sources including the Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC), Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Westsylvania Heritage Corporation and numerous water trail partners.  All sources for the layer have been imported into a centralized layer by the PFBC which is continuously updated.  Many of the updates are spatial in terms of moving points to GPS collected locations or visually based on high accurayc aerial photography - namely PAMap and the 2004 National Agricultural Imagery Program Color Infrared photography.
