Abstract:

This layer contains flowing waters from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Fisheries Resource Database that are under fishing special regulation in 2010.

Purpose:

Mapping and analysis of flowing waters that are under fishing special regulation in Pennsylvania. Promotion of fishing opportunities in Pennsylvania.

Supplemental_Information:

This data set was created by loading both River Mile values and latitude/longitude coordinates of section limits existing in the PFBC Fisheries database.  The locational values were originally derived from a variety of sources including GPS, scaling from USGS maps and aerial photography.  Tools in ArcMap were used to generate the stream sections from these values.  Each section was checked against the descriptions contained for each upstream and downstream section limit and the sections were adjusted where necessary.  The current 1:24000 National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) flowing waters layer was used as the base for drawing the sections and this data is coincident with NHD.
