Abstract:

Data was created to portray the boundaries of the Councils of Government (COG's) in Allegheny County.

Purpose:

Data was developed as part of the effort to establish large scale base data to support a Geographic Information System in Allegheny County.

Supplemental_Information:

Data meets or exceeds map accuracy standards in effect during the spring of 1992.

All parties acknowledge that the data is for informational purposes only. The existing digital data is shipped as is and there is no guarantee as to its completeness or accuracy. Allegheny County Division of Computer Services Geographic Information Systems Group is not responsible for any reliance upon said data.

Data is based on Allegheny County base data which was produced at a scale of 1"=200'.

Logical_Consistency_Report:

Data is based on municipal boundaries, developed and maintained by Allegheny County GIS Staff.

Completeness_Report:

There is data for each of the 130 municipalities and their affiliation or lack thereof with a Council of Government.

Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:

Data is based on county base data horizontal positional accuracy

Data is based on county base data vertical positional accuracy

Process_Description:

During Y2K efforts of 1999-2000, data was transferred to Microsoft NT Server running ArcInfo 7 and was made available to county users across the network from a single location.

Process_Description:

1361 tiles were edgematched to create a single seamless County coverage

Process_Description:

Boundaries were drawn using municipal boundaries based on county Base Data developed from a flyover in 1992-93.

Process_Description:

Shapefiles were created from ArcInfo Coverages.

Process_Description:

Municipal boundaries updated to more closely align with parcel boundaries, dataset was incorporated as a feature class in a countywide Boundary Geodatabase

COG Boundaries updated to reflect changes in municipal affiliations for 2008 and Metadata updated
