Tables in ArcGIS let you work with data from a compatable tabular data source. You can bring data from almost any data source into ArcGIS tables. You can add data from these tables to maps, and symbolize, query, and analyze this data geographically.
A table is made up of horizontal rows which usually represent a particular feature, vertical columns which usually display attributes of the features, and cells which are the conjunction of a specific row and column.
