Data Format
The majority of data available through PASDA come as ZIP compressed Arc/INFO export files (e00). Image data, such as Digital Raster Graphics, are in tagged image file format (.tif).
These files are normally made useable by unzipping them with the assistance of a zip utility. Some zip utilities include: Pkzipand WinZip.
With the above knowledge in hand, downloading a data coverage is quite simple:
1. Make sure you have an unzip utility (see above).
2. Load the zipped data coverage to your local machine by clicking on the link.
3. Unzip the coverage (by following the directions of your unzip utility).
Once the coverage has been unzipped, it is ready to be imported into a GIS.
Note: The data in this tutorial has been packaged specifically for use with the exercises that make up this tutorial. Once you've completed the ArcGIS tutorial, you're ready to begin experimenting with the many other data sets that PASDA offers.
