Step 4. Open the "Attributes of Countbnd.shp"and the "Attributes of Mcdnew.shp" tables.
Step 5. Position the "Attributes of Mcdnew.shp" table to the right and the "Attributes of Countbnd.shp" on the left. Notice the COUNTY field in Countbnd.shp and the MCDCOUNTY field in Mcdnew.shp both contain county names. We will Relate these fields using the common names.

Step 6. Right Click on Countbnd.shp and scroll down to Joins and Relates and then over to Relate.

Step 7. In the Relate Question Box answer the questions provided. Remember we are relating Countbnd.shp to Mcdnew.shp and we are using COUNTY from Countbnd.shp and MCDCOUNTY from Mcdnew.shp.

Step 8. Click OK. Your two tables are now related.
