Note: When tables are being joined, there is always a source table and a destination table. The source table is the table that will become part of another table. In this case the source table is "Attributes of Countbnd.shp". The destination table is the table you will be joining to. This will be the "Attributes of Gwndep99.shp".

Step 6. To join these two tables, move the "Attributes of Countbnd.shp" and the "Attributes of Gwndep99.shp" side-by-side in the ArcGIS window.

Step 7. Make sure both tables, "Attributes of Countbnd.shp" and "Attributes of Gwndep99.shp", have the Countyfield active. The column will appear blue when it is selected.

Step 8. With the theme "Attributes of Gwndep99.shp" still the active table, Right Click on Gwndep99.shp and scroll down to the Joins and Relates button. Click on the Join button.

Step 9. Fill out the Join Data table.

The table asks you:

Note: Now the attributes from both of the layers are in one table. The labels on each column tell which layer each attribute came from.

Step 10. Scroll to the right of the table and right click on the Pop1990field. Scroll down to the Sort Descending button.
