Goal: In this exercise you will learn several editing functions for tables.

At the end of this exercise you should be able to:

Step 1. Add the "Exwatershd.shp" and the "Countbnd.shp" to the View. Click on the "Exwatshd.shp" to make the theme active.

Note: Suppose you've been told that one of the unique ID's   (Unique_id 7441-8635-43) in the "Attributes of Exwatshd.shp" has the wrong attribute. As it happens, the error is relevant to your analysis (in any case, you want your map to be accurate). To correct the mistake, you will need to edit the value of the appropriate record in the table. Before you edit tabular data (change cell values or add or delete records or fields), ArcGIS requires that you turn on the editor function.

Step 2.  Make sure the "Exwatshd.shp" is active (if it is not already), open the "Attributes of Exwatshd.shp" table by pressing the Open Attribute Table atttable.jpg (5769 bytes) Table pull-down menu.

Step 3. At the top left of your project page click the Editor button and scroll down to Start Editing .

Step 4. The Starting Editing button allow you to change anym of the tabular data in the attribute table. Click on the data you wish to change and you will receive a cursor. You now can change the ID that you discovered is wrong.

Step 4.Right click on the Unique_ID column, this will give options to Sort (Ascending/Descending). This will easy the search for the value 7441-8635-43, you need to change.

Step 5. Click on the Editor tab and scroll down to stop editing. This will prompt you to save your edits.
