Goal: In this exercise you will become familiar with the following concepts: Graphical User Interface (GUI), tools and buttons, themes, and tables
Based on your work in Exercise 1, you should be able to open projects, add themes, move windows, and display themes. At the end of this exercise you will know how to:
Step 1. If necessary, start ArcGIS. Add the "Countbnd.shp"to the View.

Step 2.If not already active, Click on the "Countbnd.shp"name or its legend symbol in the Table of Contents to make it active. The theme appears highlighted in the Table of Contents.
Step 3. Right Click the Countbnd.shp layer in the Table of Contents and scroll down to Open Attribute Table.
A table window opens containing the "Attributes of the Countbnd.shp". table.

The table has a number of fields, such as, Shape, Area, Perimeter, etc.. The Shapefield tells you the type of feature (e.g., point, line, polygon) the theme represents.
Step 4. Using the scroll bar at the bottom of the table, scroll to the right. Look at the information that is stored in the other fields.
Step 5. It is now helpful to put the View and the Table side by side. Make View1active by clicking on its title bar. Move it to the left side of the ArcGIS window, then resize it so it fills the left half of the window. Make the "Attributes of Countbnd.shp" table active by clicking on its title bar. Move it to the right side of the ArcGIS window, then resize it so it fills the right portion of the window. The title bar will not appear grayed out.
Step 6. Using the scroll bar at the bottom of the table, scroll to the right until you see the the field County.
