Goal: In this exercise you will learn how to convert your county into a new shapefile.
At the end of this exercise you will understand:
Step 1. Add the "Countbnd.shp" and "Sparks.shp" to your View1.

Step 2. In the table of contents make sure the "countbnd.shp" theme is active. Using the Select Tool
select your county, or a county that has a State Park in the View window.

Note: Now you will convert the selected county into a shapefile, and add it as a theme in the View.
Step 3. Right Click on the countbnd layer and scroll down to Data. Select Export Data from the drop down list to the right.

Step 4. Navigate to the directory where you want to save the shapefile. In the File Name text box, rename the default "Export_Output.shp" by typing a descriptive name such as "mycounty.shp", then Click OK.

Note: A dialog box displays with the question Do you want to add the exported data to the view? If you answer Yes, the selected features are saved as a shapefile and added to the view. If you answer No, the shapefile is saved, but isn't added to the view.

Step 5. Click Yes. ArcGIS creates a new shapefile called "mycounty.shp" in your directory and adds the "mycounty.shp" theme to the view.
