Goal: In this exercise you will become familiar with the Query Builder function. This function allows you to select specific attributes such as springs that have a particular value. In this example you will find all the springs in Dauphin County.

At the end of this exercise you will be able to:

Use the find button to locate a particular attribute
Understand how to examine attributes in a tables
Use the Query Builder and understand the difference between attribute fields and attribute values
Understand the functions New Set, Add to Set, and Select from Set
Use the Zoom to Selected button

Step 1.Add the themes "Wuds.shp" and "Countbnd.shp";.

Step 2.With the "Wuds.shp" theme active, Click the Find button on the View button bar, then type "Larson" in the text box that displays. Click OK.

Note: ArcGIS searches the attribute table for the first occurrence of "Larson" and selects it.

Step 3.Right Click on the name Larson Enterprises and scroll down to Select Feature. Now the location of Larson Enterprises is highlighted in blue on the map.
