The Pennsylvania Imagery Navigator was developed to provide easier access to imagery and raster data such as topographic maps. The Navigator still maintains all the functions of the Imagery Viewer and Download Utility. However, the enhanced Navigator allows users to print the map image, identify and download multiple tiles for an area of interest, and new options for specifying area of interest.

The enhanced Imagery Navigator serves as the One Stop Portal with easy access to imagery and raster data from a diversity of providers including the PAMAP program, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the USDA, and the USGS, as well as specialized imagery from PEMA, NGA, local governments, and even satellite imagery.
PASDA Services FeaturedWeather services developed by Penn State researchers and served via PASDA were featured in an article in Science Daily and on an Ivanhoe Broadcast News program on wildfires. The article and news piece, "Saving Lives when Wildfires Burn" explored the use of Internet Map Services and access to data and the important role these play in emergency response.
A few PAMAP imagery tiles have been corrected, and updates have been posted on
PASDA. The Quality Assessment review of horizontal accuracy of the 2005 imagery
found a localized DEM error in Lycoming County that affected nine tiles. The
DEM used for orthorectification of that area has been corrected, and the nine
images have been corrected as well. The tiles are: 41002140PAN, 41002150PAN,
41002160PAN, 42002140PAN, 42002150PAN, 42002160PAN, 43002140PAN, 43002150PAN,
and 43002160PAN. Note that this error was in the DEM used for production of the
2005 imagery, not the 2007 LiDAR-derived DEM. In addition, a user discovered a
seaming error in the 2006 imagery tile 54001480PAS, in Armstrong County just
south of Kittanning. This seam error has been corrected, resulting in updates
to imagery tiles 54001470PAS and 54001480PAS. These updated tiles are now
available through PASDA.
Corrections have been made to the 2006 LAS and DEM data for tile 35001830PAN in
Clearfield County. A user discovered that a farm building artifact was not
removed from the bare earth model, resulting in a very localized spike in the
DEM. The DEM has been corrected. The points in the LAS file have been
re-classified. The corrected DEM file is now available through PASDA, and the
LAS data is available through the State Data Center.
Allegheny County GIS data is now available for free download from Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access (PASDA). Currently there are over 30 data sets being provided by Allegheny County including parcels, building footprints, contours and more. Allegheny County data is available for download, as maps services and can be viewed in Google Earth. In the first month, Allegheny County map services developed by PASDA were accessed by over 11,000 users and over 1300 users downloaded data from the FTP site. PASDA would like to thank Allegheny County for providing this important data for free to the GIS community.
PASDA works with members of the Pennsylvania GIS community to meet goals, form partnerships, and share information. Our GIS community information is provided in an effort to further these goals.
